ABOUT US

Via Antica is a small family winery, located in the village of Belitsa, 6 km. far from the town of Lyubimets. Between the southern slopes of Sakar Mountain and the easternmost ridge of the Rhodopes called “Gorata” which means “The forest”. The village is situated at the foot of a small hill, on which in the early medieval adges was built a fortress, whence comes its name – Gradishte (from grad in bulgarian – town).

The winery is owned by a family, who for many years have been involved in the trade with fine art and antiques. This, along with the nearby ancient roman road Via Militaris, is the basis of the name with which we chose to present our wines.

The winery was founded in 2017 – more than 10 years after our family settled in the village of Belitsa. This is also the year of our first harvest.

Today our own vineyards are currently 60 decares including the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. Their  average age of the vineyards is about 35 years.

We also buy grapes from other varieties – Syrah, Malbec and Cabernet Franc only from vine growers, whose plants are located only in the land of Belitsa.
